Knee Circles

October 27th, 2021

One of the reasons I am sitting here writing this email today is because of our supporters.

Without support and people getting tremendous value out of the MS GYM, there is no MS GYM.

Fortunately so many of you advocate and share the MS GYM with your neurologists, friends, family and anyone who will listen.

Check out this post I saw yesterday in one of our Fb groups:

We have thousands of people like Jani who just want to help others because they have had a good experience with us.

It's no different then wanting to tell others when you see a good movie or show.

Word of mouth has been one of the biggest reasons for our growth and it's WHY we are the largest MS specific online platform.

However, as I mentioned yesterday, we still have many skeptics and even haters.

Here was one of the comments on Jani's post:

Suzie nailed it, 'it often falls on deaf ears'.

Now as I said in my email yesterday The MS GYM won't be a fit for everyone.

But when people make up their minds before even trying us, that is called a CLOSED mind.

One of my favorite authors and speakers ( who passed away about 5 years ago) was Wayne Dyer.

Here was one of his many quotes he was known for: "Have a mind that is OPEN to Everything and Attached to Nothing".

I have found that as I get older, it becomes easier to close my mind due to years of habitual thinking and I often need reminders form mentors like Wayne Dyer to remind me of small truths that we have trouble implementing into our everyday lives.

If you still have an OPEN mind to the fact that NEURO - BASED exercises can change your life, then I got a great ONE minute exercise for you today.

Today’s MOVEMENT MINUTE focuses on KNEE MOBILITY.

Your knee joint has 4 main actions:

Flexion – bending
Extension – straightening
Medial rotation – twist in
Lateral rotation – twist out

Take a look at the image below and notice how many muscles cross your knee joint.
Your knee joint is an intersection joint that transfers force from the ANKLE to the HIPS.

We can improve knee stability by training the JOINT RECEPTORS in the knee and the MUSCLES that move the knee joint.

One of the BEST movement drills for that is called the KNEE CIRCLE.

This drill is SUPER POWERFUL because it:

Improves joint receptor function inside your knee

Increases quad strength

Increases hamstring strength

Increases ANKLE range of motion which can REDUCE FOOT DROP

Improves balance in the COMPLETE range of motion of the knee

With repeated practice of LOWER BODY MOBILITY DRILLS, your brain gets better at:

  • Reducing spasticity throughout your whole body
  • Using vestibular and proprioceptive feedback which directly improves BALANCE
  • Increasing lower body and core stability strength which improves BALANCE
  • Moving with better  spinal stability and spinal cord activation which improves BALANCE
  • Allowing you to RELAX which helps to REDUCE SYMPTOMS

As you do this FOCUS ON:

  • Move from your lower body in a FULL RANGE OF MOTION
  • Pull shoulder blades down toward back pockets
  • Pull belly button toward spine
  • Maintain a tall spine
  • BREATHING to keep your brain calm  - exhale into the KNEE CIRCLE
