The most COMPLEX Case of MS ever?

What up Gymmers?

If you just recently found the MS Gym, I want to say WELCOME again!

If you have been lurking for a while and are still a bit “skeptical” of me and all these crazy MS Gymmers claiming they have learned how to COUNTERACT THEIR MS symptoms… PLEASE READ ON.

If you have checked out ANY of the1000’s of MS Gym victory stories and are still saying to yourself, “yeah but I’m different, NOTHING has worked for me and I have lots of other health issues too…”

Today could be the day that everything changes for you.

I have a story to share with you..

Before creating the MS GYM, I owned multiple successful brick and mortar medical fitness facilities and worked with 1000’s of clients over a 17-year period.

Then four years ago, we launched our current online MS GYM community and now serve, coach, and guide 1000’s of people with neuro-degenerative conditions on a REGULAR BASIS.

Therefore, I have been exposed to and have designed movement programming to counteract and manage a GIGANTIC variety of MS symptoms.

With this, I’ve had to include strategies to ALSO manage TONS of accompanying Co-morbidities (other medical conditions) for every body type, lifestyle, gender, race, age, and medical history you could imagine.

In other words, The MS Gym ain’t my first rodeo!

I’ve spent my entire 20+ year career training to work with you.

I’ve got you covered.

With that said, if you think you “got it bad” and “this probably won’t work for me,” I would like to introduce you to one of the MOST COMPLEX MS CASES I have ever claimed victory over.

 Her name was Shauna.

Unfortunately, I received the recent bad news she passed away and I want to dedicate today's email to her and the impact she had on me.

Shauna’s fight, strength, relentless effort, and profound belief she COULD HEAL led to an “IMPOSSIBLE” recovery and restoration of function.

In fact, her progress brought tears to the eyes of high school, college, and professional athletes, fitness clients, and other medical fitness patients.

This 4-foot 9-inch little fighter was wheeled into my clinic by her husband slumped over in her wheelchair.

As we chatted, I found out she was only 48 years old; the damage done to her body had me thinking she was closer to 65.

Shauna loved birds, movies, the ocean, a good martini, and walks with her husband (which she longed to return to).

 Shauna’s medical history was INTENSE:

  • SPMS (foot drop, peg leg, knee kiss, shuffle gait, global spasticity, bladder incontinence, optic neuritis)
  • Chron’s disease, Lyme disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Congestive heart failure
  • Small vessel disease, 2 bouts of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s (auto-immune thyroid condition).

She was on 17 medications, she moved like an 80 year-old woman, her head drooped toward the floor, and her monotone voice drifted in and out of conscious thought as she shared her story.

Shauna could stand for less than 3 seconds, couldn’t rise from a chair, and had recently spend 14 hours on the floor after a fall while her husband was out of town, she was too weak to make it to her phone.

Shauna’s goals were to be able to get off the floor, stand from the toilet, get down to 3 medications, and walk with her husband and birds in her beautiful Colorado backyard by summer (her visit with me was in August).

The only part of our conversation that sparked emotion in her voice is when she slowly lifted her head, looked up at me through her coke bottle thick glasses and said, “Help me, everyone else says I should prepare for a home, I’m not going to die in a home, you’re my last hope, please….”

With tears in my eyes, I DECIDED at that moment that I had 12 months to completely re-build this woman’s nervous system… it was time to pull out my best work and save this woman’s life.

This is a summary of what happened over 6 months ( yes, we achieved much of what I thought would take a full year in only 6 months):

PHASE 1: EXERCISING ON A TABLE

START: Shauna could only stand for 5-10 seconds, heart rate over 200 bpm when she stood, MASSIVE SPASTICITY, had to catch her 5 or 6 times during our first session as her legs gave out. She could barely hold her body up on all 4’s or lift her hips off my therapy table.

FINISH: After 8 weeks, Shauna could lift her arms, legs, and contract her deep core on the table, roll over, sit up to transfer, and shift her body weight side to side with help.

PHASE 2: EXERCISE ON A TABLE AND IN A CHAIR

START
: We started with chair exercises, she couldn’t sit up straight for more than 10 seconds (using mostly her neck), heart rate shot to 230 bpm, had to rest 2 minutes between each set of sitting tall or she would pass out from her blood sugar spiking to over 200 mg/dl (she did 3 or 4 times).

FINISH: After 12 weeks, Shauna’s core strength improved greatly, she was able to sit for 5 minutes without rest while performing pushes, pulls, lifts, trunk rotations, and hip rotations with BOTH SIDES of her body.

Blood glucose dropped to a steady 160 mg/dl and her exercising heart rate was at 170 bpm.

*** Shauna was relentless in practicing her AT HOME exercises during these two phases. She focused on her hips, core, and blades while she sat and watched her game shows, talked to her bird, and with every trip to the restroom, kitchen, or bed. She told me that exercise was HER JOB, and she would walk by the time her husband retired in a year.

PHASE 3: STANDING, FULL BODY STRENGTH & SHAUNA BEAST MODE

There wasn’t really a distinctive start and finish point to this phase; let’s just say this… “everything clicked” in Shauna’s brain over the course of 32 weeks.

She LEARNED how to activate her vestibular system, hold a strong body posture and started taking microscopic steps.

She REGAINED her ability to stand, slowly walk, squat, step up, push her body weight, move bands and weights, and change direction without stumbling.

She THEN began performing 1/8 reps of deadlifts, split squats, and side leans while holding on for dear life to a bar.

She JUST – GOT – BETTER and BETTER and literally had dozens of my clients in tears each week as they watched her fight like hell to get her life back…

I will never forget the day Shauna came in and looked almost 20 years younger.

I was eating lunch, and I gazed out my office window to see a little purple car pull up in front of my location.

The door opened and I saw only the top of a dirty blond head of hair just above the car door.

As the door shut, my jaw dropped… SHAUNA DROVE here!

She got out of her car unassisted, stepped up on the curb unassisted, opened the door, and almost bounced in the door.

She came up to me and said, “I know I don’t have an appointment but I figured it out last night, I wanted to surprise you… watch this.”

I watched this little bulldog of a woman, who had laid helpless on the floor 9 months ago, get down on the floor, lay flat on her belly, roll over to her back… and then just reverse the process to stand fully to her feet with a smile that changed my life forever.

 “We won Trevor.”

She hugged me, turned around, walked out the door, got back in her car and drove off.

I just stood there in the silence of a miracle and sobbed with joy – it was one of the most impactful moments of my life!

Over the next year, Shauna not only went on to return to walking with her birds and husband, she went to movies weekly, had martini lunches with her friends from church, and showed up 3 times a week to one of our MS small group exercise classes.

She became a hero in our facility and just before her and her husband had to relocate and sadly, leave us, Shauna was doing the following:

- 2 minute FULL PLANKS
- 50 sit to stands non-stop
- 10 chest to floor push ups
- 30 kettlebell swings
- Jogging for 20-30 second intervals on her treadmill.

Shauna is and will forever be one of the most amazing people I have ever known.

I encourage you to REALLY REFLECT on Shauna’s story and her belief that she could heal.

She is one of the many reasons The MS Gym exists and why YOU NOW have a chance to get your life back.

My programs had already produced some amazing transformations before Shauna.

But it was Shauna that truly PROVED to me that my training approach, neuro-centric programming, and mindset management activities WORK.

It really woke me up to what is possible and encouraged me to advance my skills and education even further.

Most of the things/structure/framework of my online programs are designed around the things I did with Shauna.

So… wanna know what MS GYM exercise programs
Shauna used to save her life?

You have the same opportunity to heal like Shauna with me as your coach EVERY DAY and guess what?

If you trained in the MS Gym for the next 18 months like Shauna… you would spend around $800… Nuff said.
