Whats up Gymmers !

I have a big fat smile on my face reading all the comments about John Dunham.

John is very willing to share his story publicly so in addition to yesterdays email, my team posted it all over the social media platforms we use.

And while I sip my second cup of coffee this morning I'm reading every comment.

If you missed yesterday's email about John's journey form quadriplegic to walking unassisted, you Can read it here

Today we are going to focus on MOTOR FUNCTION of your HANDS.

Now, some of you may be wondering why you should work your hands.

Some of you may be saying YES, my hands don’t work so well so teach me coach!

Neurologically speaking, your hands are SUPER FULL of nerve endings so practicing moving them well can improve sensory and motor function in those areas.

With this, inside your brain, the areas that activate your visual system (eyes) are RIGHT NEXT to the areas that activate your hands.

SO… by improving hand function, you improve visual function, WHICH IMPROVES BALANCE, POSTURE, AND WALKING GAIT.

What?... Yup, everything is connected Gymmer.

 Today’s video will help to:

  • Reduce spasticity in your hands AND forearms
  • Improve SENSORY function in your hands
  • Increase grip strength and fine motor hand skills
  • Improve posture and balance
  • Improve visual system function.

As you do this FOCUS ON:

  1) Slow controlled movements – do this SLOW so your brain can map the movement

  2) Think SIT TALL – BLADES DOWN – BELLY IN as you practice these drills

  3) BREATHING to keep your brain calm
